Aktex signed the first export contract for battery shipment to the Yemen Republic.
The first lots of twelve containers shipped in the first quarter of 2008 are already being produced. Based on first delivery results, a decision in respect of an annual contract will be finalised with talks taking place as we speak. Realizing the importance of competitiveness in the global market and with hindsight toward Russia’s entry into the WTO, Aktex began preparing for export as far back as 2006. Even prior to this, AKTEX and ZVER batteries were deemed to have a competitive edge over most imported products in respect of quality and price. With the current market situation of increased global battery consumption coupled with battery prices, the company moved to take on theses opportunities. Since the middle of 2006, the company has predominantly been promoting its products to European retail chains and Middle East and Africa distributors. In June 2007 the company participated in the International Lead-Acid Battery Exhibition in Beijing (China) one of the main events for the battery industry of Asia and the Middle East. AKTEX was the only Russian manufacturer represented. Plans for 2008-2010 include expanding our market coverage into the peripheries of European and Asian countries.
